How does the Base intelligence layer work?
Base compares your key metrics against AI-powered industry benchmarks for founders at your stage. Your runway, MRR growth, churn rate, pipeline coverage, and burn multiple are all benchmarked against what is typical for companies at your stage and interpreted in plain English. For example, if your runway is 8 months, Base tells you that the typical runway for a post-seed company before raising a Series A is 12 to 18 months, and suggests you consider opening investor conversations in the next 60 days. Benchmarks are currently powered by AI using publicly available startup data. As Base grows, they will be progressively replaced by aggregate data from real Base companies at your stage. All benchmark insights are clearly labelled so you always know the source.

What are Base native modules?
Brand, Campaigns, and Sequences are built by Base and don't depend on a third-party integration. Brand lets you design and store your brand guidelines. Campaigns lets you send email broadcasts. Sequences lets you build multi-step drip email cadences. All three are available on all plans.
What is the Brand module?
The Brand module is a native Base tool that lets you build and store your brand guidelines. You describe your company, your customer, and your visual direction and Base generates a starter brand kit covering colours, typography, and voice and tone. Your brand kit is then used automatically across contracts, campaigns, and documents generated inside Base.
What's the difference between Campaigns and Sequences?
Campaigns are broadcast emails sent to a list of contacts at one time: a product update, a newsletter, an outreach blast. Sequences are multi-step automated drip emails sent to individual contacts over time: a sales cadence, an onboarding flow, a re-engagement sequence. Both are powered by Gmail for sending.
What is the proactive feed?
The proactive feed is the first thing you see when you log in. It's a prioritised list of the most important things that need your attention across all your connected tools. Unsigned contracts, overdue invoices, leads that haven't been contacted, emails awaiting replies. It updates automatically throughout the day without you having to ask.
What does the dashboard show?
Four headline metrics at the top, runway, MRR, pipeline, and headcount, pulled live from connected integrations. Below that: the proactive feed, today's agenda from your calendar and task manager, recent activity across all connected tools, and quick action buttons. On Monday mornings it also shows a weekly summary.
Can Base answer questions about my whole business?
Yes. The cross-module query engine lets you ask questions that span multiple connected tools. "How is the business doing this week?" pulls from finance, CRM, analytics, and email. "Am I on track to hit my revenue target?" pulls from Xero and Stripe. Base synthesises the data and returns a single plain English answer.

Most founders are connected and running their first commands within minutes. Connecting a tool takes about 30 seconds via a standard OAuth login. If you don't have a tool yet, Base will help you set one up via a guided flow.
Do I need technical knowledge to use Base?
No. Base is built for founders, not developers. Everything works via plain English commands. You don't need to understand APIs, OAuth, or any technical concepts. If you can type what you need, Base can handle it.

Base guides you through setting up the right tool for your needs. If you want to set up a CRM for the first time, Base will recommend whether HubSpot, Attio, or Pipedrive is the better fit for your stage and help you get started.
Privacy and about
Is my data safe with Base?
Yes. Each user's connected accounts are fully isolated from one another. Your data is never visible to other Base users or shared with third parties beyond the tools you explicitly connect to. All connections use industry-standard OAuth 2.0 and data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Is Base GDPR compliant?
Yes. Base is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office and complies with GDPR. Before any bulk email send, Base displays a full confirmation screen showing exactly who will receive the email.
