Base runs your business.

The moment Base was built for: Founders who have shipped the product and now need to actually run the business. Sales, marketing, finance, legal, investor relations, hiring. All in different tools, all disconnected, no single view of what is happening and what to do next. Base connects everything together and allows you to run it from one plain English command bar. You type what you need (and Base proactively tells you what needs to be done). Base handles it. But the bigger technical ambition sits underneath that.

We are building five layers. Setup connects your tools and walks you through everything you need to configure. Orchestration controls every connected tool from a single command. Company Brain unifies all your data so you can ask how the business is doing and get one coherent answer. Memory builds a permanent structured record of everything that has ever happened in the business. And Intelligence benchmarks your metrics against industry data in real time and tells you what your numbers mean.

The Memory and Intelligence layers are where the real moat is. As Base accumulates structured memory across thousands of businesses, we build a proprietary dataset no competitor can replicate. That dataset powers increasingly precise benchmarks and eventually enables a level of predictive insight that has not existed before for early-stage companies.

The product also needs to feel effortless. A founder logs in and Base has already spotted three things that need attention. They type a command and it just works. They never have to think about which tool does what. Building that kind of experience requires someone who cares about the simplicity of the experience as much as the architecture beneath it.

We are looking for a founding engineer. The third person on the team alongside two co-founders who have spent a decade each as operators at some of the fastest-scaling companies in the world.

We are open to starting part time on equity only if you are not yet ready to commit full time. Post fundraise, which we are actively working towards, this becomes a full time role with a competitive salary alongside meaningful equity. Depending on experience and fit, this role has a clear path to co-founder or CTO.

You will own the technical architecture of Base. The decisions you make now will determine what we can build in two years.

The Memory layer. Building the data architecture that captures and structures everything happening across a founder's connected business tools. This is a structured intelligence asset that needs to be queryable, accurate, and fast. It is the most important technical piece of what we are building.

The Intelligence layer. Taking the structured memory and turning it into real-time benchmarks and proactive insights. What does this founder's burn rate mean compared to founders at their stage? What is likely to happen to their pipeline next month? This is where AI and data science intersect.

The onboarding experience. We want a founder to go from sign-up to fully operational in under ten minutes without needing to think. Every friction point needs to be designed out. This requires obsessive attention to product experience and a willingness to rethink how onboarding works from first principles.

The AI routing layer. Improving how Base interprets plain English commands, routes them to the right integration, asks the right clarifying questions, and executes reliably. We want Base to feel like talking to someone who knows your business.

Product architecture. As we scale we need infrastructure to handle thousands of companies with different tool stacks, different data structures, and different levels of complexity.

You have built production AI products before and understand what it takes to make them reliable, accurate, and fast at scale.

You think deeply about data architecture. You understand the difference between storing data and building a data asset. You care about schema design, query performance, and long-term data integrity.

You have strong opinions about product experience. You have used products that feel effortless and you know what makes them that way. You want to build something founders talk about.

You are excited about the ambition. This is not a role where someone hands you a spec. You will help shape what Base becomes.

We are particularly interested in engineers who have built data infrastructure, memory systems, or applied AI products at companies known for exceptional technical ambition. Experience at companies such as Palantir, DeepMind, Anthropic, OpenAI, Stripe, Linear, or Notion is a strong signal, though we care more about what you built than where you built it.

You are based in or willing to work close to US or London timezones.

Meaningful equity in a company with paying customers, early traction, and a clear path to fundraising.

The ability to start part time if that works better right now, with a clear expectation of full time post-raise.

A clear path to co-founder or CTO depending on experience and fit.

Two co-founders who have run large commercial teams at scale. You will not be figuring out the business side alone.

A technical problem worth working on for years. The memory architecture, data layer, and intelligence system we are building are non-trivial.
